Kara approaches architecture as a way to positively shape daily life—influencing how people live, work, learn, and create. She prioritizes active listening and collaboration with clients, translating their priorities and values into responsive, imaginative designs. Her work is defined by an emphasis on connection, trust, and thoughtful solutions tailored to each project.
In recent years at LGA Architectural Partners, Kara has focused on housing and community projects that increase density while respecting the scale and character of existing neighborhoods—exploring alternatives to the typical large-scale development model. Her portfolio includes leading roles in projects such as the First Unitarian Congregation Renovation, TPL Albert Campbell Library Renovations, Canterbury Youth Shelter, and Glen Abbey Library Renovation. She has also designed numerous residential projects including the published Ulster Street Multi-Unit Residence and Langford Avenue Laneway House, as well as Scarth Road Laneway, Brock Laneway House, and Mulmur Farmhouse.
Kara’s background in community development, adaptive reuse, and sustainable design informs every stage of her process. She earned her Master of Architecture from Dalhousie University and studied in both Winnipeg and Glasgow, where hands-on experience with diverse construction methods shaped her approach to practice.
