PortsToronto – Construction Permit Office (FAP/PPA Guide Update & Training)

Collecting feedback from internal stakeholders to identify process gaps and inefficiencies.

Updating the Facility Alteration Permit Guide to provide clearer instructions and a streamlined process for applicants and reviewers.

Training newly hired external staff responsible for administering the permit office, ensuring they could manage applications effectively and consistently.

Coordinating with a wide range of external stakeholders, which may include:

•  Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation

•  Transport Canada

•  NAV Canada

•  Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)

•  Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA)

•  Nieuport Aviation Infrastructure Partners (NAIP)

•  Commercial airlines, ORNGE, and the general aviation community at BBTCA

•  City of Toronto

•  Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA)

•  Aquatic Habitat Toronto

•  Waterfront Toronto

•  Other tenants on PortsToronto lands or adjacent property occupants

These updates and training efforts improved clarity, strengthened compliance, and established a smoother workflow for both internal teams and external applicants. The result was a more efficient, transparent permitting system that supports safe, compliant, and timely project delivery across PortsToronto facilities.
